Repair or Replace?
We service many of our products regularly. What can require service? What goes wrong that the mechanic or superintendent can’t fix. How can I tell if the ACCU-GAGE is still accurate? Additionally, is there value in sending the tool for repair?
How can I tell if my Accu-Gage is still Accurate?
The easiest way is to use something of known thickness such as a gage block or a feeler gage. Simply put either between the bar and indicator head at the same point where the bed-knife would go, and read the gage. If you use a .025″ feeler gage you should read .025″ on the gage. If the difference is greater than .003 , then something is not right.
Should I have my Accu-Gage Repaired?
After checking the Accu-Gage for accuracy you may find that the Accu-Gage may have been dropped causing the dial indicator to move out of square with the bar or that the internal gears have jumped. In this case, we recommend you send it to us for recalibration.
Another source of inaccuracy is the bar itself. In some case where the bar touches the front and rear rollers, there are wear marks (pictured right). These are cause by turning the rollers looking for high or low points. This can abrade the hard coating on the bar and thus cause inaccuracy. Additionally, if the bar has been dropped or used as a prying tool, for instance, it can become bent. This can also be fixed by our expert repair department. When in doubt, send it out. We’ll get it fixed and back in service for you.
Should I service the tool myself?
Many of our customers service the Accu-Gage themselves. It is not to difficult to install a new dial gage providing you have a means of testing the accuracy (reference the paragraph on accuracy above)

Prices for repairs as follows:
Recalibration — $39.00
Replace Gage — $70.00
Replace Bar — $70.00
Flip bar to use other side — $10.00
Note that we will not repair an Accu-Gage if the cost exceeds half of a new one.
